Our company calls this bung the “O.B.” aka the Original Bung. Designed by Jim Boswell and his brother in law Jacques Seysses we’ve been selling this bung since the 80s. Winemakers continue to seek it out for its sleek appearance, strong material and reliable sealing ability.
Available in several colors, the Fat Lip bung was designed by winemakers for winemakers to be both practical and attractive in your cellar. The knurled lip allows you to really crank it down into your barrel. We have tested this tool against competitor models and the Boswell Fat Lip has superior material, better sealing action and a cleaner finish.
In 2020 the Boswell Company introduced a new fermentation bung. The improvements included an easier to pull through tail, more durable material and brighter colored tops. These bungs can be used with existing ferm-rite styled bungs in your cellar making them a good choice if you need more or want a refresh.
